Most GPS tracking platforms give you a map and a few data points. Asterism Track is different. From the ground up, we designed every feature, every screen, and every tool to answer the questions that keep business owners and fleet managers awake at night: Where are my vehicles right now? Who is using them? Are they safe? Am I losing money?
This post walks you through every tab inside Asterism Track: Dashboard, Live Map, Devices, Trips, Alerts, Team, and Billing, and shows you exactly how each one helps you run a tighter, smarter, and more profitable operation.
Dashboard: Your Command Centre at a Glance
The Dashboard is the first screen you see after logging in. It is designed to give you a complete operational snapshot in seconds, without clicking anything.
What you see:
- Total vehicles online versus offline: know instantly which assets are active and which need attention.
- Active alerts: speeding incidents, geofence breaches, and SOS triggers from the last 24 hours, highlighted so nothing gets missed.
- Recent trips: a quick list of the latest completed journeys with distance, duration, and start and end addresses.
- Fleet summary cards: total distance covered today, idle time, and any devices that have been offline for more than an hour.
The Dashboard eliminates the need to dig through menus to understand the state of your fleet. One glance tells you whether everything is running normally or if there is something that needs your attention. For managers overseeing many vehicles, this screen alone saves hours every week.
Live Map: Real-Time Visibility, Finally
The Live Map is the heart of Asterism Track. It displays every vehicle in your fleet on an interactive, real-time map.
Capabilities:
- Each vehicle appears as a color-coded icon
- Click any vehicle to see its exact address, current speed, heading direction, and how long it has been in its current state.
- The map auto-refreshes every few seconds, giving you genuinely live tracking.
- Toggle between satellite view and street map view depending on your preference.
Why this matters: Before tracking, a fleet manager's typical day involves calling drivers one by one to ask "where are you?" The Live Map replaces every one of those calls with instant visual certainty. You see what is happening right now, not what a driver chooses to tell you.
Devices: Manage Every Tracker in One Place
The Devices tab is where you manage the physical GPS trackers connected to your account. This is the backend of your tracking operation, and we have made it as straightforward as possible.
What you can do:
- Add a new device by entering its IMEI or unique tracker ID. The system auto-detects many common tracker protocols, meaning you do not need to know the technical details.
- View device status: when each tracker last communicated, its battery level (if supported), and signal strength.
- Rename devices to something meaningful: "Delivery Van 3" instead of a serial number.
- Assign devices to vehicles so your reports and alerts use names that make sense to your team.
- Detect tampering: if a device stops reporting unexpectedly, it is flagged immediately.
Support for existing hardware: One of the most important things to understand is that Asterism Track works with the GPS trackers you already own. You do not need to buy new hardware.
Trips: Complete Journey History at Your Fingertips
Every journey a vehicle makes is automatically recorded and stored in the Trips tab. This is where you go to answer questions about what happened yesterday, last week, or last month.
What Trips shows you:
- A list of all completed journeys with start time, end time, duration, and total distance.
- Click any trip to see the exact route drawn on a map, every turn, every road, in sequence.
- Stops are marked with duration, so you can see if a driver spent 5 minutes or 45 minutes at an unauthorized location.
- Speed data is overlaid on the route, showing where a driver exceeded limits.
- Export trip data to CSV (Fleet and Command plans) for expense reporting, client billing, or compliance.
Practical use: A client calls and says your driver arrived late. You open the Trips tab, find that journey, and see that the driver left on time but was delayed by traffic on a specific road or that the driver actually left 40 minutes late. Either way, you have the facts. No argument. No ambiguity.
Alerts: Never Be Surprised Again
The Alerts tab is where you configure the system to tell you about things you need to know immediately. Alerts are proactive, they come to you, rather than you having to constantly check the dashboard.
Alert types you can configure:
Alert - What It Detects
Speeding - Vehicle exceeds a speed threshold you define
Geofence Entry/Exit - Vehicle enters or leaves a defined zone (office, client site, home)
SOS / Panic Button - Driver presses the emergency button on the tracker
Device Offline - Tracker loses power or network signal
Movement After Hours - Vehicle moves outside defined operating hours
Idle Time - Vehicle remains stationary with engine running beyond a set limit
How alerts reach you:
- Email notifications — standard on all plans.
- Push notifications — sent to your phone so you see them instantly.
- In-dashboard alerts — a visible banner when you log in.
Pro tip from our team: The most financially impactful alert for most businesses is Movement After Hours. Many of our clients discover within the first week of using Asterism Track that their vehicles are being used on weekends or late at night without authorization. Stopping this alone often covers the cost of the entire subscription.
Team: Control Who Sees What
The Team tab is built for businesses where more than one person needs access to the platform. Not everyone should see everything, and Asterism Track gives you granular control over permissions.
What you can do:
- Invite team members by email address.
- Assign roles — Admin (full access), Manager (can view and run reports but not change settings), Viewer (can see the map and trips but cannot make changes).
- Assign specific vehicles to specific team members — a regional manager in Kisumu sees only Kisumu vehicles. A driver supervisor sees only the vehicles they are responsible for.
- Remove access instantly when someone leaves the organization.
This is especially valuable for businesses with multiple branches, where central management wants overall visibility but branch managers only need access to their own vehicles. It keeps the interface clean, relevant, and secure.
Billing: Transparent, Simple, No Surprises
The Billing tab gives you complete visibility into your subscription. We believe billing should be boring, predictable, clear, and easy to understand.
What you can see and do:
- View your current plan and monthly charges.
- See your billing history, every payment, every invoice.
- Update your payment method.
- Change your plan — upgrade or downgrade as your needs change.
- Download invoices and receipts for your records.
Important: You can cancel your subscription directly from the Billing tab at any time. No phone calls. No retention scripts. No hassle. If you choose to cancel, your access continues until the end of your current billing period.
Why Every Tab Matters
What sets Asterism Track apart is that every feature has a direct, practical purpose. We did not build features to fill a marketing checklist. We built each one because our conversations with Kenyan, East African and African businesses told us it was needed.
- The Dashboard saves time.
- The Live Map replaces phone calls.
- Devices makes hardware management simple.
- Trips gives you irrefutable history.
- Alerts means you never miss a problem.
